KWA was commissioned to design and secure planning permission for a new private American Barn within the grounds of a Grade II 15th-century hall and subsequently managed the project through construction.
The development provides stables, tack room, implement, feed and bedding storage and wash-down facilities, all carefully arranged to maximise functionality while respecting the historic setting.
Given the sensitivity of the site, KWA undertook detailed heritage and ecological assessments. Initial surveys identified the potential presence of protected species and KWA worked with consultants to complete further surveys and mitigate impact. Working closely with the District Council and Conservation Officer KWA were able to preserve key vantage points and the integrity of the listed estate, culminating in the grant of planning permission and the delivery of the facility.
Following the success of the initial phase, KWA was invited to return to deliver a second phase, further enhancing the facility in keeping with the site’s character.
