KWA were appointed as Planning Consultants for a conversion project. The 1794 property was a Grade II listed church set in a Conservation Area in a small, rural village in South Cambridgeshire and the client was seeking to change the use to residential.

Although the United Reformed Church was no longer in use, the historic importance of the building, the lack of amenity space and lack of parking were all barriers to the acceptable end use.

KWA liaised with the client, Architect, Historic Building Consultant, Planning Officer and the Council’s Conservation Officer throughout the project. Despite the initial scheme raising concerns from the Conservation Officer, KWA were able to suggest changes to the scheme which were acceptable to all parties and which allowed Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for the scheme to be granted.

The resultant scheme delivered two high end one bedroom apartments which appeared on Episode 72 of ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ on BBC One in 2022.
