The applicant approached KWA to design a new stud farm set in 300 acres of Surrey Green Belt. The site was formerly an agricultural farm and although it benefited from a farmhouse had little other development on site.

KWA designed five yards to serve the needs of the business including a main yard, a pre-foaling yard, a foaling yard, a yearling yard and an isolation yard. Ancillary facilities such as horsewalkers, specialist veterinary facilities, storage and access were also incorporated within the design.

The site fell across the territories of two different District Councils and KWA had to work with both Councils to secure planning permission. Although permission for a development of the nature and scale in the Green Belt was unprecedented KWA used its extensive specialist knowledge of equine developments to secure planning permission from both Councils.

Work is due to begin onsite in Spring 2014.
